Well, I'm writing this at a training center in Icheon. This is my first day at work in Korea Power Exchange, as the first 3 weeks of training is held at training centers in faraway location. I had much fun today with my teammates and all, but sadly the internet connection wasn't working on this computer I'm using at the lounge. So I'm using my cellphone as a temporary internet connection. Slow, but better than nothing.

I hope to tell more about the training as time and circumstances permit.

Here's an interesting movie project that I heard about from Andy a few weeks ago. It's called "The 1 Second Film" and the running time of movie's main contents is exactly one second long. However, because it is literally a huge collaboration effort from lots of people, running the ending credits alone is expected to take more than an hour. If you think this is outrageous and would be extremely boring, 'the making of' video is presented with the ending credits, making it worth watching. All in all, the movie's total running time is expected to be similar to regular movies.

While Korea beating Japan (again) in World Baseball Classic a few hours ago by 2:1 to secure a place in the semifinals alone was euphoric, this brief moment just before the game started (I recorded the whole game, by the way) was too hilarious to ignore. It was just a minute before these two sportscasters were to interview Seung-Yeop Lee (currently the most successful hitter in WBC). Byung-Hyun Kim, the pitcher who earned a win later in the game, couldn't pass up making his presence known while walking in front of the camera. Such a prankster. Enjoy the 8-second clip! You need DivX codec installed.

Here it is... Korea's first imported Mac mini based on Intel's Core Duo processor! Of course, its older brother, the one with Freescale G4, was also the first to land on Korean soil. My earlier experiment with running the website on a Pentium M system with Windows didn't go so well, so it's back to Mac mini's job again. I'll probably try Linux next time.

While those of you who don't use a Mac or have large collection of video it may have gone unnoticed, there has been a weird and annoying hole in video playback compatibility in Mac platform. Specifically, AVI videos that use Windows Media Video 9 (a.k.a. WMV9 and also called WMV3) codec could not be played, let alone viewed with subtitles. Due to the availability of the 'WMV9 VCM' for Windows it has been possible to use that video codec in AVI container instead of the WMV container originally intended. However, in Macs playing this sort of file (and preferably with accompanying subtitle file) had following roadblocks until early this year.
