Google Ads, 'Top Nugget' plug-in

In the old Tool-Box website, I had LinkExchange ads placed. That was sort of okay, but it didn't do much and was pain to manage. So in this new Tool-Box website, I'm trying Google ads. I'm hoping this one's better.

I'm trying two types of shapes here. Since the main page is long, I put a tall banner on the right. In each of the entry page, it's not typically as long, so I put a wide banner on the top.

Serendipity does not support 'top' or 'bottom' sidebar, so I made a plug-in so that you can put HTML nuggets on the top of the entry page. I call it HTML Nugget on Page Top plug-in. It should appear on the SourceForge CVS as serendipity_event_topnugget soon. This plug-in enabled me to put the banner ad as an HTML nugget so it appears on the top of an entry.

Solving IP loopback problem

Your Mac, which is also the webserver, is behind a router. You enter your website's domain name on your web browser. You cannot connect. You can still connect via your internal IP address, so the webserver is not down. What gives? Here's what might be happening.

Webserver guide updated

I have edited the MySQL, phpBB, and s9y installation method slightly to reflect a more secure way of doing it.

"Choose Language" flexibility!

Big chart.
Okay, I think it confuses the heck out of many people to have the 'Choose Language' sidebar showing... 23 language options. So what did I do? Modify the plugin so I can choose what language to show on the dropdown box.

Box on the left (click for larger image) shows how it looks like from the admin screen. Since this blog is currently written in English and Korean only, I disabled all the other languages from selection. I may re-enable other languages if I get motivated enough to write in other languages, such as Japanese.

I have the plugin modification (now version 1.3) committed to the Sourceforge CVS. It takes a while before it shows up on the web, so come back later if the plugin is still version 1.2.

In Ulsan

I'm back in Ulsan for the weekend. Haven't been here for a while. Quite relaxing... it's nice to blog from a faraway location.
