Becoming a film's executive producer

Here's an interesting movie project that I heard about from Andy a few weeks ago. It's called "The 1 Second Film" and the running time of movie's main contents is exactly one second long. However, because it is literally a huge collaboration effort from lots of people, running the ending credits alone is expected to take more than an hour. If you think this is outrageous and would be extremely boring, 'the making of' video is presented with the ending credits, making it worth watching. All in all, the movie's total running time is expected to be similar to regular movies.

So why would the ending credits roll be extremely long? Anyone financially contributing to the creation of the film is credited as a producer. A producer is "one who supervises and controls the finances, creation, and public presentation of a play, film, program, or similar work" according to the dictionary, so it's not too much of a stretch. Currently, over 3,600 people donated to the creation of the movie, and they have all been given (or will be given) the credits. I'm guessing that the ending credits roll will feature each person's name for one second while 'the making of' documentary is shown in the background.

Another thing to note about this movie is that it's a 'fundraiser' - all profits generated by the movie will be donated to charity. So you'll feel good not just because your name will come up in a movie, but because you donated to a worthy cause. This movie expected to spawn 4 more sequels until 2011, and each of the movies will have its profits donated to various charities. Even if you miss a chance, there are plenty more, I guess.

The movie is expected to premiere in a theater later this year. However, the premiere is expected to be the only time it'll be on theaters. So how would people know you were part of the effort in a movie production? You can buy the DVD and show people around, or browse it on Internet Movie Database (IMDb).

Taking all of these points into consideration, I decided that this movie project was worth donating my money to. I initially put aside a small amount, but I thought I might as well sacrifice my camcorder budget and help out something that'll help more people. So now I earned the title of 'executive producer' for the film. I can't wait to go to the premiere of this movie.

Though it is true I enjoy your writing style, I don't agree with your main point of view about this one. I do delight in your website nevertheless.
