Modem died

The power adapter on the VDSL modem died early this morning around 4AM and the server lost connection to the internet for 6 hours. The faulty adapter was hastily replaced by the KT service personnel (came only 90 minutes after the call center received my complaint) and everything is back to normal now.

Site upgraded to s9y 0.9

It must be an upgrade week! The site's MySQL framework was recently upgraded to 5.0 as the new version became official release. Today, s9y was upgraded to version 0.9 officially. Obviously the site was updated accordingly. There have been some minor hiccups, which I'll note later. But other than that, things seem to be working okay.

Things I like about this release:
- Native UTF-8 support: now I don't have to edit the language files to have the site running in full UTF-8 mode.
- Better SPARTACUS: plugin updates got better.
- Improved management UI: multiple file uploads, returns to overview page after managing entries/comments, and so on.
- Flexible permalink: I guess now I have more control over the URL of my blog.

And much, much more. If you see any problems on the site, tell me about it. I've adjusted the settings to have the site running properly with the upgrade, but maybe I missed something out.

Upgraded to MySQL 5.0 / PHP 5.0.5...

The server was momentarily down as the upgrades were made. Looks all good now! Tell me if something's not working...

It's crunch time

Notice that the comics are updated daily but you don't see any new written entries?

Well, I've got lots to write about, but the whole thesis thing is taking my time. Comics are created with a fixed set of images (quite a large number, however, as you may imagine) and they're prepared relatively quick. On the other hand, I take some care and time to write regular blog posts so they have some value as far as information goes, and this takes much longer than the comic. Oh, and I have to translate it, too...

The Toon-Box "The Japan Trip 2004" series

I'm posting a series of photos I took while visiting Japan around this time last year. I've been meaning to post pictures of my various trips, and while that has been done before, I felt compelled to try it under the comic framework this time. I hope you enjoy it.
