Hiroshima Overpressure Radii
Hiroshima Overpressure Radii

Three days from now, six decades ago, world's first atomic bomb to be used in combat was detonated over Hiroshima, Japan. The picture above was made by putting the location and the yield of the bomb as currently known into HYDESim, (High-Yield Detonation Effects Simulator). The overpressure radii for 1psi reaches 2.88km, according to the simulator.

Make PSP video with altShiiva

I was trying to create an MP4 video file that properly works with my PSP with a video encoding application for MacOS X called altShiiva. I think I found the right setting, so I'm writing them down before I forget.

Updating server components

A little hiccup this morning... I was updating some of the server components. To make sure I don't mess up anything next time I do this, I'll write down the procedures.

1. phpBB

Straightforward, actually. Go to phpBB downloads section, and get the latest 'Changed Files Only' version. Decompressing it will give you a bunch of 'version x to version y' zip files, with common files on their own.

Degree Confluence Project

37N 128E
37N 128E
Back in 2001 and 2002, I had quite a bit of interest in this 'degree confluence' thing. Basically, this is the coordinates where the integer-numbered longitudes and latitudes meet (e.g. 37N 128E). You go visit there, take pictures, and report on it. No doubt I actually bought a handheld GPS if only to just do these trips.

I have linked my member page on the sidebar. I was quite successful in that I have visited all ten ground confluences in South Korea before anyone else. Most of them are still not visited by anyone else. Feeling that the mission was accomplished, I guess I put this project behind my mind ever since.

Come to think of it, 2001 and 2002 were pretty wild times. That's when I made a wearable computer and was on TV every day. Heh.

Well, I'm not sure if I'll ever do this again, but regardless I updated my name / e-mail address / website. Perhaps I'll do a revisit sometime. Or better yet, visit some new ones.
