To Nogodan in Jirisan

More Mountain

Even after passing the tollgate, we were still somewhat far away from the main destination, Nogodan, one of the mountains that comprise Jirisan. It is 1,507 meters high, and the name originates from the mountain having the altar (sindan, shortened to 'dan') for Seondoseongmo (honorifically shortened to 'Nogo'). Nogo is the mother of Park Hyeokgeose, the legendary founder of Silla Kingdom (57BC - 935AD).

Driving to Jirisan (Mt. Jiri)

Last weekend, our family decided to go out for a drive in the vicinity of Jirisan (Mount Jiri) as a summer vacation trip. As usual the trip was to be quick (one day without a sleepover) but efficient.

On Our Way

Dad is at the wheels. He's still quite able to make a long-distance drive, but I hope he doesn't overdo it. 15 years ago he was able to drive all the way from Quebec (Canada) to Florida (USA), a three-day trip (one-way) with 10 hours of driving each day, so our family could visit Disney World. He did do a round trip.

Plane Ride to Ulsan

I rode on airplanes more than a hundred times, mostly to visit Ulsan to meet my family. Typically, the ride goes on like this.

The Fountain

Upon arriving at Gimpo International Airport, there's a water fountain next to the entrance. I always ignore this because the subway and/or limousine bus does not arrive with much ample time to spare.

Korean support out-of-box: s9y 0.8.3

The new point release of Serendipity (s9y), version 0.8.3, came out a few hours ago, which can be found in the official download page. This marks the first official s9y release with full Korean support, completed by yours truly. Previously, the first s9y version with such support was to be the next major release, 0.9. I have already noted this in my previous post. However, I thought it would be better to have this come out sooner than later, so I backported the changes to the 0.8 branch, and naturally the new release came out with the changes integrated.

Of course, the new version also comes with an ample set of security patches and bugfixes, making it a recommended update. My 'HTML Nugget on Page' plugin can now function fully with this version because
a new hook intended for 0.9 was backported and is part of 0.8.3. Complete information related to the 0.8.3 version update can be found in the official s9y blog.

'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance' poster

The last movie in the so-called 'vengeance trilogy' by director Chan-Wook Park, called 'Chinjeolhan Geumjassi' is now showing in the Korean theatres and has already taken the #1 spot in the box office. Foreign readers will be more familiar with the English version of the title 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance'. Director Park has carved himself a name among the minds of many movie enthusiasts everywhere with his multi-award-winning movie 'Oldboy', the second installment of the aforementioned trilogy.

Obviously, I'm writing this because I've just seen the movie. (some spoilers ahead)
