Impeachment of Yoon at the National Assembly

The impeachment rally in front of the National Assembly on December 14, 2024

At 5 PM, December 14, 2024, National Assembly of the Republic of Korea passed the motion to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol on its second attempt. This was the culmination of the huge backlash that was caused by the short-lived martial law that Yoon imposed on December 3. I joined the pro-impeachment rally that was taking place all over Yeouido, and held a spot right in front of the entrance to the National Assembly building from around 2:40 PM.

When the motion finally passed, the entire crowd erupted in a huge celebration, and the press photographers seized the chance to record the moment. As it turned out, I was in the frame in several instances:

On a related note, I uploaded a video to YouTube that shows how things went from my perspective that day.

Interview with Monthly National Assembly Library

Cover for the interview at Page 44, July-August 2022 issue, Monthly National Assembly Library

I had the opportunity to be interviewed by the people who make the Monthly National Assembly Library magazine. I talked about all sorts of topics, including what I do these days, the book about electric vehicles that I wrote last year, and the rocket launches. The photos of myself came out quite well, especially the cover photo for the interview as you can see here.

The full interview (in Korean) is available in digital form at the National Assembly Library website here:

I'd like to say big thanks to the interviewers who come all the way to Naju to hear me talk.

Appearance on YTN Science "Docu S Prime"

Screenshot from Docu S Prime episode 243 "Science Ahead of Time - ‘Over-Technology’"

I was interviewed about the wearable computer and the tablet PC that I developed about two decades ago by the crew of YTN Science last month. The result of that made into the most recent episode of the science documentary series "Docu S Prime" which aired yesterday, March 10, 2022. It was quite flattering to see those devices being introduced as "over-technologies" together with the self driving car from 1990s.

Interview in the January 2022 issue of MotorTrend Korea

My interview "How the Korean Steve Jobs drives an EV" starts at page 68 of MotorTrend Korea January 2022 issue

Earlier this month, MotorTrend Korea did an interview and a photo shoot with me at a coffee shop since they wanted to do an article on an EV specialist. The result of this appears on the January 2022 issue as a part of the special focus on the electric vehicles. It was a great opportunity to talk about the present and the future of the EVs, as well as promote a bit about my book.

Appearance on tvN "You Quiz on the Block" episode #96

Thanks to an SBS show last year, I was invited to appear on the popular cable television program "You Quiz", and that episode aired yesterday. I liked the way it turned out, and it seems that a lot of people enjoyed it as well, especially the parts involving my wife.

Appearance on SBS "What on Earth" episode #1104

[Source page at SBS website]

The weekly SBS TV program "What on Earth" (순간포착 세상에 이런일이) is one of the longest-running show on the network, going back to 1998. I made an appearance on episode #187 on Feburary 28, 2002 as the "computer man" that wore the "wearable computer" around the city. The show has recently been going back to the archives to highlight the notable old episodes and they wanted to show how I was doing these days. The newspaper article from 10 years ago made the cut, but not more recent stuff, probably due to time constraint. Still, it was a good opportunity to let people know I'm still out there, alive and well.

P.S. There are now a couple of news articles on my appearance online.

2020-10-16 Update: SBS Noriter and another news outlet have reported as well.

Interviewed by KBS for the regional news

My family appeared on the KBS Daegu News 9 on February 3, 2019

During this year's Seollal (Korean Lunar New Year) holidays my family traveled around the country. We visited Daegu on Sunday, February 3, as I read that its National Museum had some interesting activities for the kids in celebration of the year of the Golden Pig.

One such activity was actually colouring wooden decorations in the shape of a pig. While my daughters were busy painting them, a camera crew from KBS (Korean Broadcasting System, a national public broadcaster) entered the room and started recording the area. Then they asked me if they could film us taking part in the activity and subsequently do a brief interview. I told them that it was fine.

The whole thing seemed to be for a regional news segment, so I checked to see if it aired that night. Sure enough, that was the case and my family appeared on the News 9, as you can see above. You can click on the captured frame or [here] to see the entire segment - relevant part starts around 1:30.
