New s9y plug-in: Comics

You'll notice that there's a webcomic on top of the website. This is implemented by the new plug-in I made, named "Comics." It shows the latest comic on top of the front page, and adds a navigation link on the bottom of the comic so you can go to the first / previous / next / latest comic available.

The functionalities are simple at the moment, but I think it gets the job done, so I decided to officially release it on SourceForge CVS. Refer to the README file for details. As always, SF CVS web view has a few hours of delay, so come back later if it's not showing up yet.

Oh, and the comic. It's called "The Toon-Box" as a parody of the website name. I have thousands of images from my digital camera archive and I decided that this may be the best way to present it. Hope you like it. I plan to have it as a daily feature.

Google quicksearch plug-in

Since s9y's default quicksearch plug-in indexes only the default language, Korean versions of the pages were mostly ignored. But because Google indexes the website every couple of days, including the Korean pages, I've decided to make the Google search function into a plug-in. It appears in the sidebar looking like the quicksearch, but the search results page is generated by Google. For best results and functionality, it is recommended to be used with a Google AdSense account.

Google Quicksearch plug-in is downloadable at SourceForge CVS.

Korean support out-of-box: s9y 0.8.3

The new point release of Serendipity (s9y), version 0.8.3, came out a few hours ago, which can be found in the official download page. This marks the first official s9y release with full Korean support, completed by yours truly. Previously, the first s9y version with such support was to be the next major release, 0.9. I have already noted this in my previous post. However, I thought it would be better to have this come out sooner than later, so I backported the changes to the 0.8 branch, and naturally the new release came out with the changes integrated.

Of course, the new version also comes with an ample set of security patches and bugfixes, making it a recommended update. My 'HTML Nugget on Page' plugin can now function fully with this version because
a new hook intended for 0.9 was backported and is part of 0.8.3. Complete information related to the 0.8.3 version update can be found in the official s9y blog.
