Having fun with light trails

Swing away!

Round and round!

Celine and I had some fun making light trails at home during the night. The whole thing was spontaneous, but the results were pretty good. There weren't so much to prepare. All I needed to do was to have my iPhone 5S shoot at 1/2 second shutter speed, while Celine swung this LED-equipped electric fan all over the place.

Iridium 12 satellite flare

Iridium 12 streaks down just below Polaris

Last Thursday, Iridium 12 was making a bright, magnitude -6.1 flare in the northern sky just below Polaris, so I took its photos with my iPhone. To eliminate the camera shake in the images, I used Hugin for the first time. It seems to do an excellent job of it.

Smallest full Moon in 12 centuries

This Moon is smaller, but not tiny

According to CalSky, tonight's Moon looks the smallest since October 28, 817. That's 1197 years ago. Next smaller full Moon will show up 140 years, on December 19, 2154, so for pretty much everyone reading this blog, this is the smallest one you'll see on Earth in their lifetime. Go out and enjoy the view while you can.

This was taken with my iPhone 5S through a hazy night sky on 19:35 KST via Cortex Camera.
